Under the title Correnti (Currents), I wanted to bring together all the works that deal with the theme of ocean currents and wind currents, regardless of the technique used to create them.

The Atlas triptych is a faithful representation of ocean currents at a given moment in time and in a given space, as highlighted by scientific meteorological sites.

Ocean currents, 2024, each panel measuring 42 x 90 cm, graffito on print mounted on wood panel

A faithful representation – taken from scientific meteorological websites – of the ocean currents between Africa and South America, created using metal point engraving on prints mounted on boards belonging to my childhood home. This work blends biographical elements and atmospheric phenomena.

Ocean currents, 2024, 170 x 170 cm, graphite, pierre noire, wax crayons on canvas

Accurate representation – taken from scientific meteorology websites – of surface ocean currents between Africa and South America.
The spiral shape of the phenomena is highlighted, a recurring shape in nature, from the smallest organisms to cyclones and spiral galaxies. Everything moves constantly without interruption.
The manual practice of drawing as an observation diagram, as a practice of appropriation of a phenomenon, as a method of thought and investigation, as an attempt to approach and familiarise ourselves with a larger reality that is beyond our control.
